Where Do We Fish?
In March, April and part of May the fishing is done from a few yards to 1 mile offshore. Beginning in May and on through the summer better fishing is available offshore in the Illinois or Michigan portion of the lake, usually 7 to 12 miles offshore. When conditions are right, Indiana's famed Skamania steelhead fishing will be available nearshore in June and July.

Since the Brother Nature is trailered when not in the water, where to fish is based on how the fish are biting and also the weather conditions. For instance, when boats can't get out at Michigan City because of a northwest wind, boats can fish along the industrial breakwalls in Lake County in waves less than 1 foot high. If the Skamanias are biting at Portage, that's where we'll go fishing!

Come join us!The captain will contact you in advance of the trip to give simple directions to the meeting place. Most of the spring trips will originate from the East Chicago Marina (formerly Pastrick Marina) in Lake County. The East Chicago marina is easy to find with a special exit from an expressway right to the marina. Most summer trips will originate from the Portage Marina, a few blocks north of Interstate 94. Occasionally, trips will originate from Hammond Marina.

Illinois, Michigan and Indiana fishing licenses are always available to buy on the boat.
